Prime Wave’s Woman Crush Wednesday for today goes to the amazing international DJ Cuppy.


Miss Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola Popularly known as DJ Cuppy is a Disc Jockey, performer and business person. She born in the year 1992 in Lagos, Nigeria. Her dad is the billionaire business tycoon Femi Otedola, the CEO of Forte Oil


She moved to London for her GCSE’s and A-Levels and graduated from King’s College London in July 2014 with a degree in Business and Economics. She later moved to New York University for  her Master’s Degree in Music Business, and now lives in London.

Education & Career

Her musical career started at a youthful age. At when she turned 18, while achieving a B.sc Economics at Kings College London. DJ Cuppy was at this point creating her own tracks and DJing around the globe. To this date, Cuppy’s DJ abilities have taken her to more than 25 nations. Due to her prowess on the steel she keeps filling dance floors over the globe.

In  the year 2014, miss Florence released her first compilation tagged as House of Cuppy. This work saw her pioneer a new sound she named “Neo-Afrobeats” – an electric mix of Tropical House and Afrobeats music. The aggregation was propelled effectively in London, New York and Lagos. The next year was prevailed by a 8-nation tour, Cuppy Takes Africa, presently a TV show on FOX.

Having been highlighted by the likes of Forbes, Vogue, and the Financial Times, Dj Cuppy has worked with the absolute greatest and most energizing global associations. She kicked off her US intrusion in 2015 with a temporary job at Roc Nation. She performed at SXSW Festival and featured as the occupant DJ on MTV’s ‘Uncommon Sense’ Show. All these happened while she was accomplishing a Masters in Music at New York University.

In January 2015, Cuppy was highlighted on the front of the Guardian Life to commend another age of African ladies. In March 2015, Cuppy was named the official DJ for the 2015 Oil Barons Charity in Dubai.  She became the principal African act to have at any point performed at the occasion. She was highlighted in the 2015 April/May issue of Forbes Woman Africa.


DJ Cuppy was nominated for the ELOY Awards’ Female DJ of the year category in 2014. She won in the NEA Awards 2015 in the Best Female DJ category.
