Wadata market standing on the bank of the river Benue in Makurdi wears a sad look after a fire inferno. It is the biggest market for buying and selling of foreign used properties locally called “Okrika” and other services. The market was reportedly razed down due to a wildfire in the wheel hours of today, 2nd January, 2019. The source of the fire is yetbto be ascertained as at the time of this report.

Exactly a year ago, 2nd January, 2018, Benue people took out to streets weeping over a massacre that befell them. What left a death toll of about a hundred people including children and pregnant women all in one night.

This year’s story is slightly different because no lives areĀ  lost like the other time, Just properties. The fire inferno took away most of the pretty traders’ only source of livelihood.
